Consultant
Kate Potvin is a research consultant at Shared Planet, where she supports the Climate and Nature Governance practice. Her client work includes research assistance for the Human-Wildlife Co-existence Research Network (HWCRN).

Kate holds a BA in Sociology from Occidental College where she wrote her senior thesis, ‘Driving Impact: Volvo's Journey in Stakeholder Collaboration Within Local CSR Initiatives.’ The summer prior, she traveled to The Volvo Groups office headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden where she employed an ethnographic study along with in-person interviews to analyze the intricate decision-making processes involved in corporate engagement projects whilst exploring individual and organizational choices that reconcile corporate and social objectives.

She gained insight into decision making within the practice of Corporate Sustainability and how large corporations engage with local and global stakeholders. She observed the early stages of a local initiative within a socially vulnerable neighborhood that aimed to generate long term job creation, educational opportunities including a study hub for children whilst learning harm reduction tactics from the project manager.
