
Martina Sole
Consultant
Martina Sole is a consultant at Shared Planet with expertise in international political economy, socio-ecological economics and public policy. She specialises in projects relating to structural analysis of macroeconomic policy issues, global environmental governance, and just transitions.

Martina is deeply passionate about unorthodox economic thinking to enact systemic change towards societal and ecological wellbeing. She conceptualises interdisciplinarity as a pre-condition to analyse the multifaceted and complex problems of today, and to disentangle their interconnected root causes. Martina’s main research interests encompass social and ecological justice, environmental and public policy and the history of economic ideas. Martina has extensive training in both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Additionally, she has experience of conducting primary research in both academic and professional contexts. Indeed, in 2022 she participated in a team research project at Science Po, conducting field-research in Italy, France and the UK to assess craftwork activities’ potential to enhance the socio-political and economic inclusion of migrant women in Europe. Additionally, she has experience of data-gathering within profession setting through surveys, interviews and focus groups. Moreover, she is an experienced workshop designer and facilitator.

Martina has two years of professional experience in strategy consulting and public-policy advisory for UK and international public sector clients. Prior to joining Shared Planet, she worked as a strategy consultant at Leapwise, where she conducted strategic visioning work for Senior Leaders in London-based local authorities; additionally, she developed a holistic framework to assure transformation programmes within the public sector. Previously, she worked as a Young Policy Leader Analyst at Whiteshield, conducting public-policy advisory projects for government clients in the MENA region. Her work as a public-sector strategy consultant developed her knowledge of formal and informal policy-making processes, enhancing her understanding of how to effectively influence them through advocacy. Moreover, Martina has extensive experience volunteering in youth civil society organisations. She is the New Economy Programme Co-ordinator at Generation Climate Europe. This role enhanced her project, programme and portfolio management skills while fostering her knowledge of post-growth theories and policies. Through this position she has engaged with a wide range of stakeholders at the EU level - spanning from senior politicians to academics and youth activists - conducting capacity-building and advocacy activities.

Martina holds a Dual Masters Degree in International Affairs, including an MA in International Governance & Diplomacy from Sciences Po and an MSc in International Political Economy. Previously, she obtained a BA in Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick.

Martina has extensive language skills, being fluent in English and Italian, with a working knowledge of French. In terms of IT skills, she is proficient in a range of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint. She is also competent in statistical analysis using Stata and R.
