Norwegian Refugee Council | Strengthening programming in response to climate change
Shared Planet partnered with NRC to study climate and environmental risks, interventions, and best practices in the MENA region.
Shared Planet was hired by the Norwegian Refugee Council as a Climate and Environment Consultant to develop a narrative on climate and environmental risks, interventions, and best practices in the MENA region and identify how NRC’s core competencies—Livelihoods and Food Security, Shelter & Settlements, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene—can be further adapted to better integrate climate considerations into humanitarian programming.
This project included the development of a mapping report capturing the literary and practical landscape within the region on climate programming in humanitarian action, best practice tip sheets to support on-ground technical implementation, and two flagship case studies for NRC highlighting their unique interventions in the region.
Ultimately, this project will provide the foundation for NRC to enhance its climate-sensitive strategies and improve the resilience of affected populations to respond to climate change and environmental degradation.
