our priorities.

We are committed to constantly evolving our practices and how we approach our work

Our team is dedicated to ensuring our work is inclusive, empowering and context-sensitive. We've dedicated elements of our business to ensuring we align with best research practices, mainstream inclusivity considerations, empower local voices and stay up-to-date with technological landscapes.

gender considerations.

How we mainstream gender in our work

In all that we do, we seek to mainstream gender, an approach that integrates a gender equality perspectives at all stages and at all levels.

  • We look beyond binaries to understand how both gender identity and gender expression should be considered — when necessary — in research, policies, programmes, policies and projects

  • We prioritise ensuring our work does not exacerbate or perpetuate existing inequalities and that we recognise people of all genders have different needs and experiences, face unique challenges are impacted differently

  • We champion intersectionality and recognise that gender is a unique patchwork of identities that are also impacted by social and economic factors

  • As a woman-owned and majority woman business, these considerations are especially important to what we do

localisation & decolonialisation.

How we challenge colonialist systems & centre local voices

Decolonisation and localisation are distinct concepts, though they intersect in their focus on empowering local voices and decentring from Eurocentric knowledge systems.

  • Through our commitment to localisation, we aim to ensure our methodologies, tools, and practices are adapted to local communities and seek to transfer decision-making power to local actors

  • Through our commitment to deconalisations, we seek to rectify the injustices of colonialism and help rethink and reclaim cultural, social, and economic autonomy for marginalised groups

  • Through both of these efforts, we hope to adress systemic inequities and foster a more just and inclusive world

  • We train our consultants to adopt decolonial lenses, seek to integrate and empower local voices and identify systemic historical and ongoing power imbalances across our research and work

collaborative methodologies.

How we champion co-creation & participatory methods

We believe in the importance of meaningfully integrating participatory and co-creation methods across research and project delivery

  • We seek to move beyond traditional research – based on consultation or ‘extractive’ approaches – and prioritise inclusion, agency, and shared ownership

  • Our team actively involves client teams, project partners, local experts and key communities in shaping research designs, processes and outcomes

  • Consultants have receivied training on integrating participatory and co-creation methodologies into projects, where necessary

  • We aim to continually evaluate our team’s positionality, power and geographical locations vis-à-vis our research subjects, partners and clients

responsible technology usage.

How we ensure ethical technology & data use

As a team, it is critical that we stay up-to-date with the latest advances in technologies, especially related to data privacy and protection.

  • Our team receives ongoing trainings to ensure we protect the personal information and data related to clients, projects and research, especially when dealing with vulnerable populations

  • We recognise the role of sound and secure research methodologies and best practices regarding data collection and storage

  • Our AI x Technology Taskforce is a dedicated team within Shared Planet, whose goal it is to develop company policies, frameworks and guardrails for responsible technology use

  • We give consideration to the environmental and social impacts of utilising new technologies and AI-based softwares, and take a principled human-first approach
