Tropical Forest Alliance | Roadmap to reduce deforestation in the global beef supply chain
Shared Planet supported multi-stakeholder dialogue and created a roadmap to reduce deforestation in the global beef supply chain.
The Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA) is a global multi-stakeholder partnership programme between 170+ companies, governments, civil society organisations, Indigenous Peoples, local communities and international organisations.
In April 2022, Shared Planet was engaged to draft a value proposition white paper for the Tropical Forest Alliance. The goal of the project was to unlock multistakeholder collaboration between Brazilian producers and Chinese buyers and guide supply sustainability advances in Brazil.
Shared Planet’s work included conducting a stakeholder mapping of the global beef supply chain focused on Brazil and China, developing an engagement strategy and terms of reference to support the ‘TFA Beef Dialogues’ and a governance structure to facilitate the organisation’s engagement with key stakeholders from the demand and supply side of the beef value chain and related sectors.
The value proposition created was shared with all stakeholders in the beef supply chain. It brings together research insights, stakeholder discussion outcomes and ideas, and articulates a way forward in relation to the creation of sustainability criteria.
