WWF-UK | Global nature positive economy roadmap

Shared Planet provides ongoing strategy, research and thought leadership support in building a nature-positive economy roadmap.

Shared Planet was appointed by WWF UK to draft a Global Roadmap for a Nature-Positive Economy and create an advocacy strategy to take the Roadmap forward with champion governments and in relevant international fora. A nature-positive economy refers to an economy that no longer over-exploits and degrades nature and operates within planetary boundaries, in line with the Global Biodiversity Framework.

We supported collaboration with UN High-level Climate Champions, Global Financial Alliance for Net-Zero (GFANZ), Systemiq, the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, the World Economic Forum, the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development (EBRD), Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC), and the governments of Australia, Canada, Finland and Germany.

Shared Planet’s role included: developing an advocacy and communications strategy for an NPER, including identification of target audiences and an engagement strategy to secure commitment from key countries and stakeholders; mapping potential organisations, fora and multilateral groupings that could house the development of a NPER; convening a technical expert working group to provide input for the Roadmap, including mapping relevant experts and convening webinars and feedback sessions; drafting the Roadmap; and undertaking fundraising activities to implement the NPER advocacy strategy.
