Climate & Nature Governance
practice areas.
We are facing a global triple challenge: mitigating and adapting to climate change, reversing biodiversity loss, and addressing land degradation. Yet these challenges are often viewed as separate agendas pursued by distinct actors in diverse forums using disconnected frameworks. Our Climate and Nature Governance practice views these crises as interconnected.
Our expertise
We aim to foster collaboration among stakeholders from international bodies and national governments, to corporations, and to civil society organisations. Collaboration requires breaking down the complexity, jargon, and fragmented policy landscape that obfuscates the connections between climate action, biodiversity protection, and tackling land degradation.
We translate the complexity of climate and nature research and policy into clear, actionable outputs. We help organisations identify the stakeholders who need to be involved, understand how the issues they are addressing interconnect, and design strategies that advance climate, nature, and equity together.
We support organisations across the full policy-to-practice spectrum: analysing and strengthening national commitments (NDCs, NBSAPs, NAPs), creating advocacy strategies and knowledge products for COPs under the UNFCCC, CBD, and UNCCD, and providing guidance for conservation and restoration initiatives across terrestrial, coastal, and marine ecosystems that integrate current science with rights-based and participatory approaches from the outset.
We offer clients a range of services, including:
-
Insights-led research and policy analysis: We conduct literature reviews, policy and finance mappings, and stakeholder analyses to connect research with advocacy impact. We analyse national commitments—including NDCs, NBSAPs, and NAPs—to identify gaps, opportunities, and advocacy entry points. Our research translates complex policy frameworks into accessible insights for diverse audiences.
-
Policy briefs and position papers: We develop evidence-based advocacy positions for multilateral processes under the UNFCCC, CBD, and UNCCD. This includes collating research, synthesising diverse stakeholder perspectives into collective statements, and drafting submissions for COPs and other international forums.
-
Case study development: We identify, document, and communicate best practice examples of climate and nature action that demonstrate what works—and why. Our case studies translate on-the-ground experience into replicable insights for global action.
-
Guidance tools and frameworks: We create practical tools that help organisations operationalise commitments to climate, nature, and equity. This includes frameworks for integrating social considerations into conservation programming, corporate nature strategies, and step-by-step guidance for forest landscape restoration projects that advance gender equity and Indigenous Rights.
-
Coalition building and multi-stakeholder engagement: We design and facilitate processes that bring diverse actors together around shared goals. Our work includes stakeholder mapping to identify who needs to be at the table, convening strategies that create space for meaningful participation across power differences, and developing communication approaches that bridge jargon and build common understanding across sectors and scales.
-
Project evaluation and impact reporting: We evaluate conservation and restoration initiatives. Our evaluations provide actionable recommendations and help organisations communicate their impact to funders, partners, and affected communities in ways that build credibility and trust.
-
Organisational strategy and evaluation: We help organisations clarify their theory of change, assess whether their ways of working align with their values, and strengthen their capacity to advance climate, nature, and equity together.
-
Environmental baseline assessments: We conduct scoping reviews that establish the ecological, social, and policy context for conservation and restoration initiatives.
