Food Systems, Health and Nutrition
practice areas.
The lack of global health equity demonstrates stark divides in access to healthy, nutritious food and points towards destructive consequences of food poverty and insecurity experienced by the most vulnerable. To strengthen global food security and fortify availability, affordability, utilisation, and stability, we help organisations act now.
We help organisations encourage and forge just and sustainable food systems that honour local knowledge and innovation, protect land and traditional foods and empower everyone.
Our expertise
Our expertise covers both geographic and thematic fields.
We analyse how municipal, national, and international policies integrate agri-food systems with biodiversity and climate action. Collaborating with grassroots organisations, we study dietary habits, land use, gender roles, and power dynamics with the agri-food systems sphere.
One of our key focuses includes understanding food loss and waste while exploring circular solutions, starting with food redistribution.
To that end, we offer clients a range of services, including:
-
Scoping & Literature Reviews
-
Policy & Advocacy Briefs
-
Research Articles & Reports
-
Best Practice Analysis & Initiative Benchmarking
-
Communications Strategy & Support
-
Organisational Strategy
Our latest projects
A look at some of our latest projects — and why they matter.
We support the CGIAR Gender Accelerator in exploring how digital technologies like geospatial tools can be leveraged for women’s empowerment in agri-food systems research. Employing the RBET framework, we developed a scoping review, case study report, guidebook and technical policy report on these themes. We recently presented our research at the CGIAR Gender, Land and Water Conference in Cape Town, South Africa.
We collaborate with City Harvest London to provide research and organisational strategy support aimed at increasing awareness of the issues faced by and activities of food redistribution organisations. Our work involves engaging City Harvest’s partners, charities and individuals they support. We have produced five issue-analysis reports, the latest being a cross-country analysis that explores the collaborative nature of the world's food redistribution sectors.
