Just Transition
practice areas.
A just transition is a bold, structural, and democratic shift away from long-standing systems of exploitation, extraction, and alienation, towards models of production and consumption that prioritise human well-being and ecological integrity. Our economic system has been set up to serve the interests of a wealthy and powerful few – driving us headlong into ecological crisis, conflict, and economic devastation, all to sustain that wealth.
This must urgently change, with the richest bearing the greatest responsibility for making the necessary concessions.
Our expertise
We are dedicated to driving a just transition by offering support to organisations championing economic and climate justice across global governance spaces. Our work spans key multilateral arenas, including climate and biodiversity COPs, IMF and World Bank Annual and Spring Meetings, G20 Summit, UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, regional climate weeks, Financing for Development Forum, and negotiations on the emerging UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation.
We have extensive experience analysing national climate plans, financing flows, and macroeconomic policies through a feminist political economy and climate justice lens. We combine evidence-based analysis with powerful narrative strategies to equip civil society and grassroots movements to influence policy, shift public discourse and drive systemic change.
To that end, we offer clients a range of services, including:
-
Insights-led Research & Analysis: Conducting literature reviews, policy and finance mappings, and stakeholder analyses to connect research with advocacy impact. Developing theories of change and applying narrative analysis to shift dominant economic and political discourses toward feminist climate and economic justice.
-
Position Papers: Developing advocacy positions and synthesising stakeholder perspectives into collective statements, submissions, and negotiation briefs for multilateral processes.
-
Guidance Notes: Translating research into practical tools and frameworks by preparing technical guidance, checklists, and toolkits for policymakers and practitioners.
-
Communications & Media: Producing advocacy-oriented communications materials (e.g. op-eds, social media graphics, and press releases) that strategically link research to public and policy narratives.
-
Multi-stakeholder Engagement: Facilitating participatory workshops, advisory panels, events, and dialogues. Coordinating partnerships, funder engagement, and stakeholder consultations to inform advocacy and strengthen coalitions.
Our latest projects
A look at some of our latest projects — and why they matter.
We support Climate Action Network (CAN) International in analysing the nationally determined contributions of G20 and developed countries, and in developing advocacy and communications materials that promote the integration of just transition principles into climate plans.
Our research informs CAN’s global advocacy to hold governments accountable for gaps in ambition and equity ahead of COP30.
We led research and policy analysis, brief development and expert engagement for the WWF UK’s Global Roadmap for a Nature-Positive Economy. Our work covered evidence synthesis to advisory coordination to production of advocacy and comms materials.
The roadmap is a flagship initiative within WWF’s global finance and policy practice, drawing high-level attention across CBD and UNFCCC COPs and G20 discussions.
