City Harvest London | Advocacy and organisational support for a London-based food redistribution organisation Copy
Shared Planet supports the City Harvest London team’s advocacy, research and operations.
As part of our Food Systems and Nutrition Practice and our mission to accelerate positive impact, we have been working with City Harvest London for several years. City Harvest London was founded in 2014 with the aim of addressing food waste and food poverty in London, forming London's first food redistribution charity. The organisation delivers an average of 500 tonnes of food a month, which is the equivalent of 1.2 million meals a month. Social and environmental purpose are at the heart of City Harvest. Their mission is to reduce food insecurity and protect the planet by diverting quality, nutritious surplus food from waste and redistributing it to those facing food poverty.
In 2023, Shared Planet partnered with City Harvest to support the organisation deliver and expand its goals. Shared Planet’s role focuses on developing an advocacy strategy and communication materials to support campaigns targeting food poverty in London; mapping out potential partners, including donors, community organisations and food partners and developing a strategic partnership strategy; creating thought leadership material, including conducting research and developing quarterly and annual reports; and undertaking fundraising activities and identifying fundraising opportunities.
